Sock finder: During the Winter (I want your warmest sock!)
Picking the warmest sock doesn’t necessarily mean picking the thickest sock. Alpaca socks are their warmest when they are not compressed, meaning that there needs to be enough room for your sock in your shoe in order for it to be as warm as it can be. Our Arctic Sock is our thickest sock and will be exceptionally warm under the right circumstances. If you’re wearing something like a Muck Boot, winter boot or working boot and have room for the sock’s loft, this will be the warmest sock. However, if you’re wearing a tight fitting boot or a tennis shoe of sorts then the sock will not have the room it needs to employ its thermal capabilities. You can also add our Felted Soles to work in conjunction with any alpaca sock for ultimate warmth. No matter what, Alpaca Fleece is four times warmer than Merino Wool and so will take 4 times less material to be as warm as Merino Wool. When picking a sock that you need to be really warm, think about the types of shoes you’re going to wear with it and make sure you have enough room for the sock.
