Made in Peru, not USA!

First time customer here. Was excited about supporting domestic sustainable alpaca. I paid a high price for this blanket which I justified thinking it was produced in Montana, USA, and as there was no info about this online I assumed because of their mission it must be. Well when it arrived I saw the tag said "made in Peru" ... so what gives?? More transparency going forward would do better to earn people's trust.

Thank you for your feedback.  We have about 20% of our products made in Montana / the USA, including many of our beanie hats, gloves, scarves and headbands.  We have about 80 alpacas on our farm and utilize every ounce from our farm.  But, we need an additional 25,000+ alpacas fleece in order to create all of our products.  Because there are very few mills that can process high tech alpaca fiber into alpaca socks (spinning, blending and articulating), we have 2 mills able to make some of our alpaca socks in South Carolina and felted soles in Pennsylvania. All of our other products are made at our 5 mills in Peru.  They have 6 million alpacas and the technology in order to make higher end technical products that we create.

Here is a link to all of our products made in Montana:

All products we offer are our own specifications and designs, and created at the most sophisticated alpaca mills we can find.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

This is the second item I've purchased from Alpacas of Montana and both have exceeded my expectations! The throw blanket is amazing!

Soft and warm. Since I keep my house cool in the winter, 65 degrees, nice to keep warm while reading or watching some TV. As with other alpaca items I own definitely worth the price.

Soft & Cozy

Super soft!! It’s very lightweight but keeps you warm. I use mine every day now when I snuggle up with my infant son. It does shed a little, if it gets left on the rug overnight they’ll be some shedding on the rug. Hopefully it will go away with more use, or I just need to ensure it’s stowed properly when not using. Still love it though and highly recommend!
