Perfect addition to my Mismi Ultra jacket for cool nights, shoulder seasons, warm winter days, and higher intensity winter activities.

This jacket and the Mismi are pretty much identical except the Mismi has more insulation and a hood. Because the Tempest has less insulation, it actually fits better in the same size. I wrote an extensive review of the Mismi so check it out for more details that apply to both jackets. The armpit holes on the Tempest are perfect compared to being slightly snug on the Mismi.

Initially, I called customer service about sizing for the two jackets because the chest on a medium Tempest is 39-42” and on the Mismi it is 36-42”. For my 41” chest, Sarah recommended a medium Tempest and a large Mismi based how the jackets fit. My “medium” Tempest was more like an extra small and my large Mismi was more like a medium. I exchanged the Tempest for a large and that fit much better. Maybe I got an outlier that slipped through QC, but the owner called me back and made it right. I would have preferred a more tailored fit, as there is plenty of room for an enthusiastic IPA habit, but the jacket lays nicely and looks good.

Don’t let the sizing issues dissuade you, this is a great jacket and if you get a copy that doesn’t fit quite right, just give them a call. I’m sold on alpaca and AoM, but please tighten up your sizes to a standard 2” variance and QC within that range. If I order two mediums, one shouldn’t fit like a small and the other like a large based on your size spread of what constitutes a medium.
