The Hat I Was Hoping For

I finally found a very warm hat that covers my whole head and wraps around my ears! It's been a long search. Even bulky "trapper" style hats let the wind get to your ears through the gaps at the sides of the flaps. The drawcord on this one solves that issue. I don't love the look and have a few minor gripes, but overall the Extreme Warmth alpaca hat was worth every penny.

This is now my favorite hat, if you are thinking of getting one, BUY IT.

Very warm, well made, but moisture wicking.... definitely NOT

I was very impressed.with the quality of these hats, upon first inspection.
Unfortunately after wearing hat for 15 mins or so, while shoveling snow, my head was soaked with sweat.
The supposed wicking properties of alpaca wool leaves a lot to be desired.
Although my head and ears get cold quickly, I sweat big time. This was my primary reason for buying a moisture wicking, quality hat.
I have plenty of warm hats that cause my head to sweat........
