Cozy pullover

Love the fabric, alpaca is amazing. Very warm and is a great addition to my winter wardrobe. I have to take away a star because the sleeves are so long.

Mid layer pullover

Beautifully made & never regretted buying anything from Alpacas of Montana. I was so impressed by everything that I’ve ordered that we visited their store/farm in Bozeman this past summer, all the way from KY.

Mid-Layer Quarter-Zip Pullover

Looks to be excellent quality and construction. Excellent looking pullover. Initial impression is it’s a bit more itchy than expected.

It is wonderfully soft. Looking forward to knowing its warmth when the temps drop.

Superior Product but with some reservations

Alleged benefits and superior properties of Alpaca wool had lead me to order a Quarter Zip in size "L". This pullover is made in Peru of 100% Baby Alpaca, which is the second softest fibre after the Royal Alpaca and the weave is quite dense. At 5ft 8in (weighing 165 lb) the pullover fits very well and leaves ample room underneath for a base layer and also a flannel shirt. As expected the sleeves are longer than normal but can be easily rolled back. The material seems also to have been treated with some sort of coating? I found the pullover quite heavy (600g), but being new to Alpaca wool I am not sure if that's what one has to expect from Alpaca. I also experienced a slight itchiness of the wool on bare skin. This came as a surprise, since all the fibre's properties point to a superior comfort in comparison to ordinary wool fibres. That's a minus point for me as I hoped I could also wear it without a base layer. I have not tested the pullover in cold weather conditions and cannot comment on how it will perform with regard to heat retention, breathability and moisture wicking.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, we certainly recommend the mid-layer as a second thermal layer over another shirt - our T-shirts or Base layers for examples. Both these items are a blend of silk and Royal alpaca which make them smooth to the skin. With 100% alpaca, even baby alpaca may feel itchy to some. Its super warm and comfortable, but recommended to be worn over another layer next to skin.

Our Mid-Layer Quarter-Zip Pullover brings a new definition to technical activewear, with an athletic sport-cut and strategically placed insulation and ventilation. It’ll be the first thing you grab when heading for the high country. The jacket’s built-in Alpaca Dry Fusion Technology®️ will keep you warm when the temperature plummets, while still wicking moisture away from your body. Don’t forget to grab a breathable alpaca base layer to throw on under this coat—it’s important that both layers breathe so the alpaca fibers can perform at their maximum potential. We don’t recommend cotton, rayon, or acrylic products underneath this layer.
